Helping Meet GDPR Needs – Free For Charities
This month we’ve completed our project to help the Sheringham and District Sports Association move their email provision from a selection of personal mailboxes to the Microsoft 365 platform. This included these key tasks:
- Registering a suitable domain name.
- Helping to establish non-profit status with Microsoft.
- Establishing Global Admin access to the Microsoft 365 tenant.
- Editing the domain names DNS record so that it is connected to the Microsoft 365 tenant.
- Helping to order the FREE Microsoft 365 Business Premium Licences.
- Setting up the required user mailboxes, shared mailboxes, and setting up delegation.
- Providing advice on passwords and two factor authentication (2FA).
- Basic assistance with setting up the mailboxes on devices.

I would like to say a massive thank you to Stuart, Matthew and all at IT Norwich Limited for all their help and expertise. Sheringham and District Sports Association are a small charity run entirely by volunteers and we were struggling with GDPR requirements and the need for a charity domain name with dedicated email address. IT Norwich suggested available domain names and then obtained our chosen domain name for us. They then advised us we would qualify for Microsoft non profit status and helped us through the application and set up process. The final result is we have our charity GDPR compliant with our own domain name and all volunteers with their dedicated charity email with the bonus of free Microsoft Office to run it all through.
